Another nice day calls for another hike! Jo and I headed out To French Creek State Park today – I had been on these trails a few times before – the map for the park is pretty much useless as the actual trails do not match up in any way to the trails on the map – the only thing in common are some of the trail names. It seems like they are working to correct this and I saw several trail markers and newer painted blazes on the trees that I hadn’t seen the last time I was here.
You can rent kayaks, canoes and even paddleboards seasonally here – this was where I tried paddle boarding for the 1st time – it was perfect because the lake isn’t so huge that you feel lost and it isn’t so small that you get bored – also no motorized boats are aloud so you don’t have to worry about the wake tipping you over – just nice flat water filled with beautiful lily pads that look so out of place here! It seriously makes you feel like you are in an exotic country, not south eastern PA! 🙂
We decided to take the long loop that goes around the lake – it is a fairly flat 3 mile hike. It is hunting season now and I know right around the lake no hunting is aloud so we were safe there. There were a lot of people out enjoying the day – we got to see a canoe race where the kids looked like they were having a blast! It is definitely nice to see so many people out enjoying nature!

I love this place! Been there in the winter to watch people ice fish (not for me, no thanks), campground is lovely, and I love hiking into Hopewell Furnace from here. My favorite thing is the orienteering course around the lake, it’s tough at first!

Yes it is so beautiful there- I love the water lilies – there are always so many! Ice fishing is not for me either– it makes me so nervous to see people do it! Well I don’t regular fish either though so I guess it’s no surprise about the ice fishing! Haha! 🙂 thanks for stopping by my blog! I’m enjoying yours as well!!

No problem! I was just excited that someone following my dumb blog was writing about places I actually knew about (as opposed to Hawaii, or the Sierra Nevada Mountains)!

OMG!!! I was JUST talking about that today- I was bummed out saying “I see all these other blogs about people going to Tibet and Iceland etc and here is mine— whoopie do–PA!” Lol!!! But if it can help someone or inspire someone to get out there then it’s all good! And then I reminded myself that I DO look at a lot of people’s blogs/ YouTube vlogs from PA and the surrounding areas to help plan my OWN hikes!
